Eyeliner pre & aftercare

After getting your eyeliner tattoo, you must take extremely good care of the treatment area to achieve the optimal results.
That is why it is important to read and understand all the aftercare instructions and follow them carefully and diligently. Remember, the treatment is 50% of the work and the remaining 50% depends on the aftercare.

Failing to follow the aftercare instructions can result in the loss of pigment, irritation, and damage to the skin. It's crucial that all of the aftercare instructions are followed. If you are confused about the the healing and aftercare instructions, don't hesitate to contact me.

Pre-Care Instructions

  • Do not wear mascara the day of procedure

  • Do not use any eyelash growth serums such as Latisse® one month prior to procedure.

  • Eyelash extensions must be removed prior to treatment.

  • Do not wear contacts for 24-48 hours after the procedure (Bring your reading glasses).

  • Do not dye or perm lashes for two days prior.

  • If you have had any type of eye surgery, consult with your physician about how long you should wait before having a permanent eyeliner procedure. Usually two months is sufficient with most physicians after lasik, cataract, and blepharoplasty.

aftercare instructions

These instructions are to be done 24 hours after your inital appointment

• Using a fresh Q-Tip, apply a light coat of the aftercare ointment to the tattooed area twice a day.

• Keeping the area moist during the first 5-7 days will help the tattooed area hold colour and heal evenly.

• It is normal for the pigment to fade 30-50% within the first two weeks.

• Do not rub or scratch your eyes. This increases your risk of a corneal abrasion.

If you are to run out of the aftercare ointment, you can purchase Aquaphor at your local drug store.

Dos and dont’s

Do:

  • Follow the aftercare properly to allow your brows to heal as well as they should.

  • Keep your eyes as clean and dry as you can for the first 5-10 days. Too much lymph fluid, water, sweat & oil will result in scabs instead of a film. Scabs will result in patchy brows.

  • Use an icepack (wrapped in something clean) if your eyelids feel swollen and there is bruising present.

  • Take ibuprofen (if you can) and sleep slightly upright if swelling is present.

Don’t:

  • Touch or scratch your eyeliner – touching or picking could cause irritation, infection & loss of pigment.

  • Exercise for at least 2-5 days after your treatment due to sweating. Gentle exercise is okay after the first few days.

  • Put mascara make up, cleansers, lotions etc on or close to your eyeliner for 1-2 weeks to avoid irritation

  • Use saunas, steam rooms or swimming pools for 2 weeks due to sweating, risk of getting your eyes wet & hygiene.

  • Have facials, lash extensions or other face beauty treatments done for 2 weeks to avoid irritation

  • Use lash tint. sunbeds, chemical peels or any strong face treatment for 4 weeks as your skin will not be healed enough.

  • Use anti aging creams, chemical peels, acids or retinols on or close to your eyeliner ever!
